Batman Group May 2018 Solicitations

May is here! And with it, a little change, and if you read between the lines, maybe a little more come June?

We already know about the Nightwing creative team change, but with creators of other books maybe hinting they're moving elsewhere, I'd probably take note of any book in this round of solicits that has the story arc ending... here we've got Batgirl and maybe Birds of Prey well, that one's just straight up canceled, seeing concluding stories.

There's also other stuff to take note of in Gotham and the rest of the DCU. James Tynion will be wrapping up his time on Detective Comics this month, which is sad. I remember him saying he had plans to go to #1000, would have like to have seem him achieve that... but I guess that's up to Peter Tomasi now? Then there's no Titans books of any sort in May, which is probably due to No Justice, so those books might be quite a bit different in June. There's some other stuff here and there that I know I'm missing, but the summer should be pretty interesting.

  1. It kind of stinks that Tynion’s Tec run is ending, but if I’m reading the solicit right, maybe it’s inferring a certain mud man is going to come back...? I don’t know. If it’s a satisfying end that wraps up the ras plot theads and leaves the characters in okay places, then that works.
