SPOILERS: Detective Comics #949

If the Rebirth issue is essentially a #0 issue for the new series, does that make these past two issues negative issues? OOOH. DC should get on that, really fuck with Marvel and their #19.MU or whatever the hell that is.

The Spoilers:

I mean, I'll be honest, you can sum up this stuff pretty quickly.

Flash back sees Batman not approving on Batwoman and Jacob/The Colony observing her. In the present Prime seems to have the upper hand, but then gets beat, Batwoman gives a badass line about how she was forged, Prime delivers a message to Kane about losing the eastern front, then uses the monster venom to make a getaway.

We find out how Kate figured out Bruce was Batman, and she agrees to talk to her father, and he agrees to talk to her and only her about anything she wants to know about the Colony etc.

The Opinion:

I'm still of the opinion that this just didn't add anything to Kate's already great origin. We found out how she figured out who Batman was, but that's about it. It was fine. Set up the set up that will come in the Rebirth issue, I guess. Thought the coloring was a bit off here and there, especially the last page wheret the color scheme seems to be in line with the 52 debut of Kate.

  1. Agreed! There should be something more to this story. I mean this might be a bit cliche, but let's go back to the training where Colonel Kane put her through rigorous training with bad ass operatives who are retired or still active. During Kate's training, she gets into conflict with a DC character where she barely makes it out alive. I mean damn! Why rehash those basic beats? When Rucka left some little nuggets elsewhere to develop more of Kate's story. I totally understand why they're rehashing's just...a fan kind does a pass on this issue.
