Gotham Spoilers Predicts: DC in October 2015

Wrestling is on, and I'd rather not give it my full attention, because you know, it's totally dumb, so how about some blogging? SDCC is right around the corner, and for once, it's before October's solicitations are released, which means DC might actually have something to announce this year. We also know that something is coming from DC in October, so the forecast of announcements looks good. Safe bets are that Dark Universe and Mystic U will be released in October, but what about Gotham? Well that's what I'm here for! Time for some speculation!

Detective Comics #42 Preview

Still don't know if I'm going to read this or not... I mean, what is this even supposed to be? It's a Harvey Bullock book right? Then why the hell did they open these last two issues with Jim POV? I don't know. I keep seeing praise for this book, but I just don't get it.

Stack Rundown, 06/28/2015

At this point, I think it'd be best if I just take my Marvel fandom, bring it around back behind the shed, and do what needs to be done. I'm down to one book with them, which is a comedy book, and not one announcement they had all week was interesting to me in anyway... It's not looking good for me and post-Secret Wars Marvel.

Looking Forward: July 1st, 2015?

I don't know... Maybe I'll pick up this book, maybe I won't.
  • Detective Comics #42: I don't think this creative team has been particularly good on the writing front, so Iiiiiiii don't know.
That's it! Could be an easy book. Also, see those banners? Want to support Gotham Spoilers? Buy your trades after clicking them! It's cool.

We Are Robin #1 Preview

Took you long enough, Washington Post. Not a whole lot to go off of the preview pages themselves, but hey, I guess that's what the interview is for. Still kind of skeptical about this book, but hope it turns out well.

EDIT: CBR has an expanded preview.

Grayson #9 Preview

Not going to lie, this is the DC book I missed the most during Convergence. Damn DC for putting it all the way at the end of the month. What monsters!

Gotham by Midnight #6 Preview

As much as I liked Templesmith's art on this title, I think some more detailed (compared to abstract, I guess... suck at describing things) art will maybe help me fully get behind this book, which I've still yet to do, unfortunately.

Stack Rundown, 06/21/2015

Yeah, I think moving this post to Sundays is going to be a permanent thing from here on out, just too little time for me to read everything and have a post on Saturday morning without it feeling like work. So, I hope you like checking the internet on Sunday, or whatever.

Batgirl #41 Preview

Interesting to see the use of a background artist and new colorist, now that Cameron Stewart is occupied with the art on Fight Club 2. Curious to see how the rest of the book will look from a comparative standpoint.

Looking Forward: June 24th, 2015

Closing out the month with some dick! I mean, Dick! Capitalization is important, boys and girls.
  • Grayson #9: DC are monsters for making us wait until the end of the month for this book's return.
  • Batgirl #41: Generally curious to see whether or not GorBat has any idea who Batgirl is.
  • We Are Robin #1: Really hope this one is good, not sure why, but I really want it to be.
  • Gotham by Midnight #6: This book remains on perpetually shaky ground with me, and I'd like it to step up, because it's a cool concept, just hasn't done a lot for me to really like it.
Were solicits this week? I don't know, I'm writing this on Sunday. I think they should have been? If not, then we're getting those next week as well.

SPOILERS: Robin: Son of Batman #1

You guys, this might be the Damian book I've been waiting what seems like forever for.

SPOILERS: Black Canary #1

Remember that video of Glenn Danzig pushing some dude from some band, then getting knocked the fuck out? That's pretty much what Black Canary is... but if Danzig won... and punched everyone... at every show... and that's pretty, pretty cool.

SPOILERS: Harley Quinn/Power Girl #1

You know how the original Harley Quinn book is pretty insane on its own? Well, put that book in space and things get that much crazier... it is glorious.

Batman Group September 2015 Solicitations

So we're back to Monday? Or maybe it's just because Bleeding Cool leaked the text. Not complaining.

Interesting month, there are a number of either fill-in artists or others joining in what I guess will be an artistic rotation. Maaaaaybe DC is making sure many of the art teams are rested and able to deliver for whatever October is? We got Jock on Batman, Pia Guerra on Black Canary and John Timms on Harley. Also, it doesn't seem like Manapul is even credited for co-writing Detective.

September is also annual month, and in terms of Bat books, both Batman and Grayson will be getting new annual issues.

Robin: Son of Batman #1 Preview

Damian looks sufficiently grumpy for my tastes.

Stack Rundown, 06/14/2015

Multiple times yesterday I was all "I should write that post," but I was also playing the Witcher 3, which I've dumped nearly every free hour I've had into every night since it came out, and while doing so, had purposely avoided Skellige, knowing that I had too much to do on the main continent... Then yesterday I figured I'd go see what Yen was doing, and hooooooooly crap, there's so much more to do.

Oh yeah, comics!

Black Canary #1 Preview

I read this issue, it's pretty rad, so you should probably read this issue too come Wednesday, because you're going to think it's pretty rad, and if you don't, then you're pretty not rad.

Thems is facts.

Harley Quinn/Power Girl #1 Preview

Man, I really love Stephane Roux's art. I'm still hoping for a Harley/Ivy mini from this team after this book wraps up. DO IT, DC... you know you want to.

Looking Forward: June 17th, 2015

Not going to lie, it feels good to be back in the normal flow of the weekly website routine, despite having a distinct lack of free time compared to March. Just wish these books were spaced out a little better throughout the month.
  •  Robin: Son of Batman #1: I've been saying Damian should have his own series for years now, and it's finally happening. I liked what I read in that 8 page story, but I've still got a lot of question marks in terms of Patrick Gleason the writer, so hopefully they're answered pleasantly.
  • Black Canary #1: Okay, this one is staying a little far out of Gotham, but who cares? Spinning out of Batgirl and having Annie Wu on art is enough for me to justify coverage of this book.
  • Harley Quinn/Power Girl #1: Honestly, I'm sure this book will be great and all, but I want a dedicated Harley/Ivy series... I guess Vartox is piercing his nipples at some point? Mmm... gross.
All #1s next week, looking forward to them... But you know what time it is right now, don't you? Time to support Gotham Spoilers! See those banners? (If not, turn off adblock, cheapo) If you click on them, pick out some comics or whatever you want to buy, you support Gotham Spoilers! So you know that super expensive statue you totally don't need but totally want to buy?

That's right.

SPOILERS: Harley Quinn #17

Ah, Harley Quinn... I missed you and your beaver jokes... now with added batteries on the bedroom floor. Subtlety, thy name is not Harley.

SPOILERS: Detective Comics #41

Okay... straight up, this issue is basically the anti-Batman #41, further highlighting my questing of releasing it on the same day.

SPOILERS: Catwoman #41

Selina returns to her life as Catwoman, but Batman isn't going to be welcoming her back anytime soon... Because he's deeeeeeeead.*

SPOILERS: Batman #41

Well, the day is here... Batman is dead, and Jim Gordon is the new one. Strange idea from the start, but hey... turns out, it's pretty fun.

SPOILERS: Gotham Academy #7

When Olive's away, Maps and Damian will play... one of whom is more reluctant towards that entire idea than the other.

Harley Quinn #17 Preview

Hmm, I feel like I'm really going to like this arc a whole lot.

Detective Comics #41 Preview

I still think putting this out on the same day as Batman #41 is a bad idea. Because you have Batman and then this is just sort of the other book.

(Source AV Club)

Catwoman #41 Preview

I am quite looking forward to seeing how this title plays out now that Selina is back to being Catwoman again. Hooray for characters being who they are?

(Source: Comics Alliance)

Batman #41 Preview

Gordon is feeling old, so he's pulling out the "How do you do, fellow kids?" angle with hanging ten on that bad guy's face.

About that Detective Comics News/Rumor/Maybe

More Twitter/Instagram news gathering for me! Patrick Gleason posted an instagram shot of his Detective Comics #41 variant comps, and as suspected, Fernando Blanco drew the issue, and will be drawing the rest of the arc. So, we've got that fact along with a "curtain call" from Manapul, and I'm feeling pretty confident in saying that we're getting a new Detective Comics team.

And of course immediately after posting this, I see that Dan Didio confirmed something is coming in October. Sounds like it's going to be an interesting SDCC.
