Nightwing #28 Preview

I completely forget how this guy supposedly died the first time... Shot in a cafe or something?

(Source: Batman News)

Looking Forward: September 6th, 2017

It's September next week, does that mean we're officially in "late 2017" now? Because... good. Remember when everyone was like "2016 sure was trash, let's hope 2017 is better." Uuuuh.
  • Batman #30: Second issue of the Kite-Man story, so that's good. Still bummed Kite-Man can't get any dedicated cover time.
  • Nightwing #28: Not Kathy Kane was pretty bad at killing Minos, apparently.
Then following next week, Metal kicks into gear again with tie-ins.

SPOILERS: All-Star Batman #13

Batman vs. Nemesis. You know... not that "Batman, but a cunt" character partly created by Mark Millar. You know, that writer who lately has worked with everyone Scott Snyder has worked with? Hey man, you thought it, not me. Am I making baseless assumptions and correlations? You bet'cha.

All-Star Batman #13 Preview

That looks very DKR to me.

(Source: Newsarama)

Looking Forward: August 30th, 2017

Could have sworn there was nothing next week, then I got an email and realized I was very wrooooooooong. I'm going to take a look at the Red Hood annual to see if it's worth covering. I'm still reading that book, still good, but it just hasn't seemed relevant with the Artemis and Bizarro focused stories.
  • All-Star Batman #13: Sorry for forgetting this was coming out next week. Whooooops.
That's all. Fifth Wednesday lull.

Dark Nights Metal Tie-In First Looks

Hey... I get sent stuff... well, usually it was on the DL prior, but now it's official. So that's cool, makes my life a whole lot easier (like how all four posts went up early within an hour this week?) and when I can, I get to post things directly here now! That said, I still have to work, unless one of you wants to give me a bunch of money not to, so you may have already seen these before. WHATEVER, this is cool for me.

Nightwing: The New Order #1 Preview

Trevor McCarthy's art + Dean White on colors sure is niiiiiiiiiiice.

(Source: Comic Book)

Looking Forward: Augsut 23rd, 2017

Elseworlds and an arc I'm just sure to love.
  • Detective Comics #963: Let's see just how stupid I think post Tim Drake "death" Stephanie Brown is now!
  • Nightwing: The New Order #1: Promise you... this isn't just Secret Empire Nightwing.
Solicits should hit Monday too. DC is on a mini-series binge recently, which... I don't know, cool, I guess. I'd rather see new Rebirth titles though. Hey, Mystic U... Mistik? Mystik? That thing is actually a thing again.

SPOILERS: Dark Nights: Metal #1

This book was promised to be a high action over the top love letter to the DC Universe, and I can tell you right now that it delivers on every single level.

SPOILERS: Batman #29

I may have had a few issues with how this story arc was being told, was so far out of left field, I couldn't help but love it.

SPOILERS: Nightwing #27

We're back into the spy game, and as with any good spy story, twists abound!

SPOILERS: Batwoman #6

So I skipped out on the last issue, here's a quick wrap up on that: More backstory to the island arc that I found to be pretty vanilla. Safe to say, this is back to some good shit, and not what I was expecting at all.

Batman #29 Preview

Well this preview took a turn.

(Source: Adventures in Poor Taste)

Looking Forward: August 16th, 2017

Big week next week, in number of books and scope of them.
  • Dark Nights: Metal #1: Still trying to figure out how to cover this one given the scope of it. Figuring I may just do the list of things that happened.
  • Batman #29: The preview for this one is pretty great.
  • Nightwing #27: Nightwing vs. Spyral!
  • Batwoman #6: Now that we're off to something different from the island story I found pretty boring, let's check back in.
Yep. Lots of stuff. Solicit things will probably start being sent to different websites and what not.

SPOILERS: Detective Comics #962

For those looking for their 90s long term hit, always remember the first hit is free (well in this case, $2.99), and good things don't last.

More Batman and The Signal Details

A few more details for Batman and the Signal have hit the web with two main points that were previously unknown. First: The artist drawing the series is Cully Hamner, so that's cool. Second: It's a three issue mini-series, and that's... ?

Three issues is a weird number for a mini, unless they're 40 pages each, which I doubt. I'm thinking it's more a preview of something later that's more substansial. What do you do with a three issue series after the fact? A 60 page TPB is kind of a hard sell.

Anyways, whatever Duke's new roll turns out to be, it begins in November.

Thursday, August 3, 2017

Looking Forward: August 9th, 2017

Simple week! But the following week has Metal begin, so that's kinda big.
  • Detective Comics #962: Well, I missed the last issue because of vacation, so let's fix that right now: Everyone punches Azrael in the head and then Luke reveals his new suit. Done!
Mister Miracle's new series begins next week as well, word around town is that's pretty good, and if it's anything like Omega Men, Vision or Sheriff of Babylon, then yep... it'll probably be really good.
