SPOILERS: Batman #31

Kite Man, still the answer to everything!

SPOILERS: Nightwing #29

I still stand by my desire for more issues of this crossover

SPOILERS: Batman: The Red Death #1

...I might end up reading (and enjoying) every tie-in to this event, if this is any indication of the quality.

SPOILERS: Batwoman #7

I feel like this book could be better...

First Look at Detective Comics #934

Couple of things. First, it's weird to type a number with three digits again. Second, can JPV get a better haircut, I mean really, that one in B&RE looked dumb. Keeping on the subject of hair, not wild about Kate's new haircut. I get it, military background... The look established by JH Williams III is so much better though.

Looking Forward: May 11th, 2016

No books to cover next week, as everything is slowing to a trickle pre-Rebirth, so on to the week after next we go!
  • Batman #52: I initially thought this would be a prep issue for Tynion's Detective run, but that's apparently not the case. SO! One last issue of Batman, coming up.
And that's that! I think the last week in the month is pretty much when everything else comes out, along with Rebirth #1 and Justice League #50 which apparently has that Joker thing in it and ugh.

Stack Rundown, 04/24/2016

Oh hey, Game of Thrones is back tonight. I guess that means I have a poor transition into a reason to talk about the comics I read this week... YEP.

Batman #51 Preview

So that's how Alfred got his hand back... Next give me the science as to why Gordon's hair is grey again in Rebirth! (Maybe)

Looking Forward: April 27th, 2016

Yeah, yeah... I'm a bit late. Too busy getting killed in Dark Souls III and being surprised that NXT changed their champion at a house show.
  • Batman #51: Regardless of how you look at it, this is truly the end of a historic era in the Batman comics world.
  • Batgirl #51: Is Barbara going to quit being Batgirl? NO! She's got a new book in July. Nice try, suspense!
  • Harley Quinn #27: I kind of this arc ends in Harley just murdering Red Pool for the lols.
  • Black Canary #11: Black Canary attempts to save Black Canary!
Gonna miss Snyder/Capullo Batman. That's for sure. Looking forward to whatever they do after Millar and Capullo finish their movie pitch that's already optioned anyways, probably.

I KID, I KID... but I bet we get the movie news announcement prior to the first issue being released...

I'm sure it's a coincidence, but boy does that guy look like the Joker.

Harley Quinn #27 Preview

I guess I should do the "Looking Forward" post for next week, but that's a whole thing... and I'm not into doing things right now... I'll get to it at some point... maybe.

SPOILERS: Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death #4

Poison Ivy and Catwoman team up for a caper, but not Harley, never Harley! Why are we talking about Harley? Who the hell is Harley anyways? NO.

Batman Group July 2016 Solicitations

So I'm psyched to see Rebirth solicits, then looking at them, realize I'm only posting about five or so books. Man, the idea of DC double shipping sure is strange. While some of these books could and probably will be good, variety will be missed.

One note... Harley Quinn is officially coming to "an end," only to start again in August, so you know... not a big deal.

Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death #4 Preview

At least the fill-in art looks pretty alright. EVS was not a name I expected to see as a contributor to this series... isn't he busy redrawing the DC Universe or something?

Stack Rundown, 04/17/2016

After having more books than I knew what to do with last week, back to only three this time around. Thought about picking up Moon Knight #1, as it looks like a book I could appreciate, but I clearly didn't... might pick it up this week just to check it out.

Looking Forward: April 20th, 2016

Another one book week! I enjoy these, even though I slack off a whole bunch when I get home from work on Wednesdays. July solicits should come out next week too, so that means more new books including Batgirl, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey and Nightwing.
  • Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death #4: *looks at date* ...hah.
So I guess see you at solicit time?

SPOILERS: Black Canary #10

Annnnd we're back with Black Canary... annnnnd I have to remind myself what were were doing before I skipped that fill-in issue.

Stack Rundown, 04/10/2016

I feel like at least once a year I go "I should try reading Superman books again." I guess we're already at that point in 2016. Also, man, did not expect this many books this week. Kind of snuck up on me.

Black Canary #10 Preview

Least surprising news of the day, I really like Moritat's art.

(Source: ComicBook.com)

Looking Forward: April 13th, 2016

The slow trickle of books until Rebirth continues! The irony of which is that I'm planning on at least trying a whole bunch of books from characters (and even writers) that I have zero interest in.
  • Black Canary #10: Babs and Dinah team up... and that's sure going to happen quite a bit more in the near future.
ONE BOOK WEEKS, WOOO!

SPOILERS: Batgirl #50

In essentially what is the last-ish issue of Batgirl before Rebirth, we go out on a greatest hits album... plus one more I can't even remember.

Stack Rundown, 04/03/2016

Happy Wrestlemania day! ...that's a thing that's going to happen. I for one want Roman Reigns to go over clean, and remain "babyface," because HOLY SHIT do I want to hear the crowd drown that stadium out in boos. That'd be amazing for all the wrong reasons... But you know what was amazing for all the right reasons, even those incomprehensible to our tiny ape minds? That Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn match. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck, Nakamura is something else.

Oh yeah, comics.

More Details on All-Star Batman

I've been meaning to put this post together earlier, but details kept coming out one by one and I've been busy at work (April fools, everything you put to tape today starts at 00:59:59;29 timecode! Because fuck you!) so I've sort of slacked. Nonetheless, here's some information about the new series.

First of all, I've read a lot of questions directed towards Snyder about whether or not it is in continuity or a continuation of All-Star Batman and Robin. The answers are 1. Yes and 2. No. It is in continuity, but it's not the "main" Batman book, which remains Batman. The two will share elements, but that's just basic continuity. There's been some question of whether or not it'll be bi-monthly. I believe DC put out some info that said it would be, but Snyder has clarified that it is monthly.

Need proof that it will be in continuity? Why? I just told you. Regardless, the book will feature back-ups (which leaves DC's new $2.99 price point up for debate if I had to guess) that will star Duke Thomas, or at the very least, will star him to start. The back ups bring me to the next topic, and that's format of the book. We'll have arcs with individual artists paired up with villains, along with a back up artist. To begin, we'll have John Romita Jr providing interiors for the first number of issues, with Declan Shalvey and Jordie Bellaire providing back-up art. Following that, we'll see the introduction of Mr. Freeze to the story with art by Jock and back-ups from Francesco Francavilla. On top of that, in the second year, there will be a big story from Lee Bermejo. On top of that, apparently Sean Murphy will be illustrating a big story throughout the series with an "in continuity end of times Batman" story, which sounds like a continuation of their 27 story from Detective Comics, which I know has had some follow up planned.

There have been tons of details getting out there through various tweets, videos and interviews, so I'm sure I've missed some of the finer details. Still... everything that has been said about this series is bat-shit crazy, for the lack of a better term, so I'm looking forward to it in a big way.
