Batman Group May 2016 Solicitations

So, if we're to believe these solicitations, NOTHING is cancelled, that's right, Rebirth is nothing, next month will continue on as normal, even though we know for a fact some books are indeed ending like Starfire and Omega Men.

But for real, these are the last issues. Read the text, look at how many covers are "put every character that has appeared in the book on the cover," I mean shit, the cover of Secret Six features the characters toasting.

I guess no Rebirth news today. Maybe tomorrow if we're to believe Geoff Johns? or Thursday... or Friday.

  1. Wow, these and the other DC solicits sound really boring. If Rebirth isn't a renumbering/relaunch and DC is just going to keep moving forward with 53, 54, ect.. I am seriously going to consider dropping about half my pull list. Nothing in these solicits makes me excited to read comics.

  2. What sucks more is that if Rebirth is going to be a relaunch and these are the last books for these titles, they could have done something special with these issues. Like have them not be 1 off loser villain stories that mean nothing and instead have them be smaller character pieces about the heroes that have been spearing these comics for the past 4 years. Instead we have a lot of stupid stories that are likely one-shots.

  3. Wait, Dick has to make his greatest sacrifice? Greater than dying, getting revived, then keeping his revival a secret from everyone he loved to be a double agent inside an insidious spy organization? That seems like a pretty high bar . . .

  4. I take these solicits to mean that DC just doesn't want to show its 'Rebirth' cards yet. I actually think part of the reason is, that if certain rumors are to be believed, they didn't totally know what 'Rebirth' was going to be other than a "relaunch" of some sort. I agree with FHIZ that a wholesale "reboot" is in the cards. Maybe just a little light retconning and some fudging of the details. Anyway, it's pretty obvious that this is an endpoint of some sort; several of DC's bigger writers and artists are absent in May (e.g., Ivan Reis, Scott Snyder, John Romita Jr.).

    1. "... that a wholesale reboot ISN'T in the cards..." is what I meant to write.

    2. I'd like to add that I think it's laughable to see the Jim Gordon "Robat" still in action in Detective Comics and other titles through April and May. I mean, Superheavy concludes in March. Bruce is literally Batman again this month. It renders any subsequent Gordon-as-Batman stories so... hollow.
