Welcome to Stack Highlights, it's like Stack Rundown but with a fraction of the effort!
And the mother of year award goes to... literally anyone but Lady Shiva
Lots of style, just need a little more easily discernible substance for my tastes.
I'm not sure exactly why most of this issue happens, but it sure is cool.

Look, Cass has been here the whole time! That fixes everything?
Also, getting a patchwork art issue already is somewhat concerning... I also started to become a little dissapointed looking at the slated artists and realizing that there's not a whole lot of visually interesting styles from artist to artist, so there's that too... Whatever.

So November is here, so now's the time where I go "where the hell did this year go?" Because, holy shit. It's November.
- Batman and Robin Eternal #5: They fight Mother! Whose mother? Tim's mother? Mother mother? I don't know... I think it'd be funny if Dick just starts punching Tim's parents.
- Detective Comics #46: This issue got a new generic looking cover that I don't think is all that great looking! Hooray?

Eaton is one of those artists whose finished work really depends on the inker, and I don't particularly consider this preview to be my favorite of the recent DC work I've read from him. It's alright, but eh, could be better.

- Batman and Robin Eternal #4: Dick and Bruce!
- Grayson #13: The Dick Sunstone crossover everyone secretly wants!
- Batgirl #45: Dick and Babs!
- Robin: Son of Batman #5: No Dick?
- We Are Robin #5: They're kind of like a bunch of little Dicks!

Here come the solicits. Robin War finishes up, as the new Poison Ivy series launches. Not going to lie, I feel like I've read the "Ivy joins research group, murder happens, she didn't commit it" before, but I'll keep an open mind. Speaking of reading something before, boy does that new Catwoman solicit sound equally familiar, but given my past experiences, I'm not as open minded to a generic sounding story from a writer whose work I've found to be boring in the past. Probably going to drop Catwoman as soon as the current arc ends. Other than that, not a whole lot to take note of other than the big crazy issue Gotham Academy is doing with a whole bunch of artists.

Jesus christ DC, have you no shame? Firs that incredibly awkward Twix product placement, now Red Robin!? What's next, are you going to have screaming kids run up and down the hall while I try to eat my next meal? Because that's the Red Robin I know! No other!

Comics continue to happen next week! Shock and awe!
- Batman and Robin Eternal #3: Who wants to bet Jason's first meeting with Cass doesn't go all that well?
- Gotham Academy #11: The pizza club goes to Red Robin to get some burgers!
- Black Canary #5: Scream vs. Scream, probably!

Here I am, digging through Previewsworld image URLs and have the Amazon link bookmarked and refreshed, looking for this cover, and DC just goes and releases it to Newsarama. Motherfucker. I had all sorts of "FROM REDDIT" jokes to be made.
Also, Newsarama lists Tony Daniel as the artist, probably because that's what DC told them. WAKE UP SHEEPLE. Read the signatures! (It was drawn by Paul Pelltier).
I like that there's an established character guest starring in this issue. Some of the characters created specifically for this book tend to wear out their welcome in my opinion. Cool to see some in-universe shit.

No Destiny update this week, because I haven't played it in forever! I'M FREE! Although, I still have to finish up chapter 2 in Metal Gear which seems to be going by quickly, since I only got a few new story missions left, one of which I'm avoiding because I don't want a character to leave just yet... But I seem to be missing a lot of cut scenes that were in that preview... Then I'm getting back into the Witcher later this week... and then I just bought two games on sale... and there's a new one coming out Tuesday... also I'm playing Persona 4 for the first time... how am I doing this?
There were also a shit ton of comics released this week! I read quite a few #1s. Let's see what I liked and what I didn't, okay?

My running joke is that DC never actually has any good announcements at either SDCC or NYCC... and well, it's not actually a joke 95% of the time! BUT HEY! Look at that... announcement! It's not a good one, but it's an announcement still?
So yeah, headline says it all... most of it, at least. Scott Snyder announced at his spotlight panel that Greg Capullo will be taking a "short" break after Batman #51, which is when he'll be doing a "short" project with Mark Millar, whose recent MO just seems to work with all the artists Scott Snyder works with. Millar's projects are usually four issues, so looking at a calendar, presuming Capullo comes back, which there doesn't seem to be any reason at the moment to think he wouldn't given the way Snyder put it, it'll probably be around this time next year if you factor in a couple month breaks between projects. Also, it should be noted that Snyder will continue on as writer during this time.
Snyder did also mention he'd be working with busiest artist in comics, Sean Murphy, again, but I'm not quite sure if he'd be Capello's replacement on the monthly, or if that means they'd be doing a 27 follow-up, which everyone seems to want them to do... Given the ties to the current status quo of Bruce, maybe that gets adapted into the regular series? I don't fucking know, but what I do know is Sean Murphy is busy as shit currently with Tokyo Ghost and Chrononauts Vol. 2 (Hi Mark Millar) in the future... So Batman on-going seems out of the question if I'd have to guess... Also, he really should just keep drawing Tokyo Ghost because that book is fucking awesome.
So yeah, that's that. Sort of sucks. But with the way Capullo had been talking lately, it should't come as a surprise. Actually, I'm surprised at the Mark Millar bit, and not a Creech revival which Capullo has made clear he'd like to do.
IN OTHER NEWS, we at Gotham Spoilers are pleased to have the HOT exclusive announcement that whatever Mark Millar and Greg Capullo will be working on has been optioned by a movie studio! You heard it here first!
Okay, so Orphan probably isn't JPV... Hey, did you see there's a Jean-Pa on one of the screens in the first issue? Guess I should have said something about that here.

Look at that! Custom made graphic for this post! Effort!
- Batman #45: Why does it feel like forever since the last issue of Batman came out? OH! It's because last month was the Jock issue! Hah... figured that out right when I was typing this up. Go me.
- Batman and Robin Eternal #2: Hopefully I liked the first issue! I'm scheduling this post on the 3rd, so I don't know what happened. Cassandra Cain?
- Catwoman #45: Well since we know DC for some reason is going "NEVER MIND ALL THIS STUFF THAT WAS (mostly) GOOD!" I guess the wrap up starts up here?
- Harley Quinn #21: Heeeeeeere's Harley... beating up Deadshot.
NYCC is also this weekend... so you know what that means! Don't get your hopes up for DC to actually announce anything cool. That way, if they do (they won't), you'll actually be surprised and happy.
Yes, burn the Catwoman costume! The day I've been waiting for is here! But that also means the unnecessary creative change is that much closer and god damn it.
How long was Nocenti given to drive this book into the ground? And yet here they are, going "WELL SALES FOR AN ALREADY LOW SELLING BOOK THAT WAS CRITICALLY PANNED ACROSS THE BOARD DIDN'T MAGICALLY GET HIGHER, FFFFFFFUUUUCK ABANDON SHIP!" after a story arc and a half. God damn.

So earlier today I was tweeting wondering whether or not DC was going to reveal the ending of Batman and Robin Eternal #1 early, or just generally go "Hey look, it's Cassandra Cain."
Well that doesn't matter, because I just found what is probably our first look at Cassandra Cain, just sitting right there in the open on the internet. So, spoilers probably...?

I got the hot update I know everyone's waiting for: I haven't played Destiny in like... four days or something. I mean, what am I even doing? I watched Giant Bomb do the raid and was sitting there like "I don't have five people I trust enough to spend 6 hours doing a single god damn mission? What's the point?" So I think I'm done for good... until a big update or something comes out and I want to level my character up just incase Destiny becomes worthwhile...

Of course Alfred basically tells Superman to be cool and not fuck things up and of course Superman goes "DUH, OKAY" and brings the Justice League to the front door. F'ing Supes, man.

Okay, I've got a question, and I really would like an answer: What the hell is a "Tim Drake" and what is it doing in Gotham City?
BOOOOOOOOM. Relevance within the universe due to a weird editorial split between characters burn! NAILED IT.

Pretty exciting week coming up. Peter Tomasi is taking over Detective Comics, then fucking Batman Eternal is back. WEIRD, right? I know.
- Batman and Robin Eternal #1: Man I really hope I like this book more than I did the first volume. I really, really do.
- Detective Comics #45: I like Tomasi, I like Batman... this should be good I think?
