SPOILERS: The Flash #22

What if it's not Dr. Manhattan, but really Geoff Johns keeping all the good continuity to himself?

SPOILERS: Batman #23

This issue was worth it for the dry humor alone.

SPOILERS: Batwoman #3

There's a bad thing happening and Batwoman has to stop it. Imagine that?

SPOILERS: All-Star Batman #10

"Batman takes a trip to Miami" isn't a sentence you say too often.

SPOILERS: Detective Comics #956

Hey, that last page doesn't say anything about Tim!

Stack Rundown, 08/30/2015

Let me tell you about The Witcher 3... I'm sitting here like "I'm just going to do a quick(ish) NG+ play through to get the platinum trophy." Just have to get the Gwent trophies, horse races, and beat it on Death March... No biggie... But then I'm like "Well, I need to upgrade my armor" so that means I need experience, so I got to do all the quests... long story short, I didn't read shit until this morning... and I still got the new volume of Sunstone and the collection of Last Days of American Crime to get through... But I just finished Skellige, soooooo, Witcher.

Looking Forward: September 2nd, 2015

So, I forgot about this post, should show a pretty good representation of my hype levels for next week.
  • Detective Comics #44: I don't know, it's the end of this run?
That's about it, GOODBYE.

Batman and Robin Eternal #1 Art Preview

Tony Daniel did a round of website interviews in promotion for Batman and Robin Eternal #1, which is a little over a month out, and with them came a whole bunch of art. While I'm not a big fan of Tony Daniel the writer, I've always loved his art, so I'll be happy to see him in Gotham again.

SPOILERS: Grayson #11

Dick doesn't get why everyone is so into his butt (heh), that's a thing now... that's cannon.

SPOILERS: Batgirl #43

Barbara takes a tiger to suplex city, but it's all for naught when the ref doesn't see the tiger tap out, which allows it to hit Babs with a low blow straight to the lady nuts... Ovaries?

I got to stop watching professional wrestling.

SPOILERS: We Are Robin #3

What happens when your vigilante hero turns into a corporate sellout who wants to arrest you? This issue! That's what. Sorta-ish. Also, Bruce is prooooobably going to be pissed off at a certain someone when he stops finger-painting or whatever.

SPOILERS: Harley Quinn #19

If anything, I enjoy that a seemingly joke element, like a giant catapult that is meant for flinging dog shit all over New York, can remain a consistent story element through the entire series.

Stack Rundown, 08/23/2015

Seriously though, that Invader Zim book is so good right now. Easily one of my favorite books and I'm so thankful that it is a thing that exists and I can read... Other books are good, too.

Looking Forward: August 26th, 2015

Would you look at that, I put in some effort to make a unique graphic for this post! One-time only, folks, back to mask fades next week!
  • Grayson #11: Batman is good and all, but I think it's time we all admit which is the best DC book on stands today.
  • Batgirl #43: Remember Velvet Tiger? Of course you don't. Well, she's getting reinvented next week.
  • We Are Robin #3: Spoilers, this probably ends up with Batgirl showing up at the end! Thanks #4 solicit!
  • Harley Quinn #19: Next stop: Hollywood.
I won't be covering Gotham by Midnight next week, because as I said last time, I just don't enjoy that book. I find it kinda of boring. Also, the Harley Quinn Road Trip special got pushed to September 9th, so none of that next week, as well.

SPOILERS: Robin: Son of Batman #3

Damian and Maya (Nobody II's name is Maya, by the way) find some common ground over the fact that they're both children really good at murdering fools. D'awww.

SPOILERS: Black Canary #3

This is definitely one of those "blink and you miss it" type issues, in fact, you've already read through my entire post, without even knowing it!

SPOILERS: Harley Quinn/Power Girl #3

Harley and Power Girl vs Nipple Rings and Body Hair, that's pretty much all you need to know about this one. Yup.

Harley Quinn/Power Girl #3 Preview

Could have sworn I already posted this over the weekend or something... I don't know, I can't remember anything anymore. Also, fill-in art still bothers me extra on a limited series, even if I do really like Moritat... Just something about it being a limited series and in the middle of an issue just gets to me.

Stack Rundown, 08/16/2015

Totally forgot all about this whole comic website thing this weekend. Been playing games all day. Got mad platinum trophies these past couple of days. One in Goat Simulator, which is a dumb game, then got one in Everybody's Gone to The Rapture, which desperately needs a walking speed patch, then another in Super Exploding Zoo, which was apparently a PS+ game at some point? Working on the Bastion plat right now, which is proving to be a challenge but--OH WAIT, comics.

Looking Forward: August 19th, 2015

None of these books take place in Gotham... My standards are dropping.
  • Robin, Son of Batman #3: Damian doesn't get along well with others, so lets have the daughter of one of his enemies tag along, that'll work out well.
  • Black Canary #3: Remember when groupies were simple and not super creepy demon monsters trying to abduct kids?
  • Harley Quinn/Power Girl #3: I NEED AN ADULT.
Also, next week should bring solicits, further confirming that Batman: Europa and Dark Knight III are both happening within a few weeks of each other, and that's how the world ends.

Batman: Europa, Herald of the Apocalypse

Around the time that The Dark Knight III: Master Race was announced, I was online, being a typical sarcastic asshole going "Where's Dark Knight: Boy Wonder?" then a few seconds later, said something along the lines of "Oh, how about Batman: Europa too!?" As both of those books have become the Duke Nukem Forever The Last Guardian Half-Life 3 of DC Comics.

Well... the sky must be falling, because here it fucking is, Batman: Europa #1, coming November 18th... maybe.

BATMAN: EUROPA #1
Written by MATTEO CASALI and BRIAN AZZARELLO
Layouts by GIUSSEPPE CAMUNCOLI
Art and cover by JIM LEE
1:25 Variant cover by LEE BERMEJO
1:100 B&W Sketch variant by JIM LEE
On sale NOVEMBER 18 • 40 pg, FC, 1 of 4, $4.99 US • RATED T+
Superstar artist Jim Lee returns to the Dark Knight with this premiere issue! The impossible has happened and Batman is on the verge of being taken down by an enemy he cannot defeat: a virus for which there is no cure! And the only hope for his salvation is The Joker! Who infected Batman, what does the Clown Prince of Crime know, and how will the Dark Knight get that information? Together, the enemies crisscross Europe, desperate to find answers before time runs out.
Co-conceived by Matteo Casali and Brian Azzarello, this 4-issue miniseries event will feature art by top talents over layouts by the incomparable Giuseppe Camuncoli (HELLBLAZER, Dark Wolverine), with the first issue pencilled and inked by none other than Jim Lee!

Let's put things in perspective... I started Gotham Spoilers shortly before this book was announced... over five years ago. I was on tumblr back then, and remember adding the tag to the "Future Series" to cover section. Hell, I think it was still there until I closed the original site down.

Frankly, I don't believe any of this is happening. I was real sick yesterday and as far as I'm concerned, I'm in a coma somewhere having some fever dream.

Either that or the end times are upon us.

SPOILERS: Batman #43

I'm just going to get out ahead of what I'm sure is going to piss off some less patient fans and say "let's just wait and see, and take note what what Superman says, okay?"

SPOILERS: Catwoman #43

Selina continues to navigate the battlefield that is Gotham's underworld, and I continue to wonder when this story is actually going to end.

SPOILERS: Gotham Academy #9

Olive learns the truth, and she's not going to like what she finds out about herself and her family.

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Stack Rundown, 08/09/2015

Unlike last week, there's a good handful of books for me to talk about this time, including one of my favorite issues of Wicked + Divine and also, Omega Men is really fucking good.

Gotham Academy #9 Preview

We got giant bats and werewolves, now all that's missing is that hot Gotham Academy/Swamp Thing crossover that I just decided that I want now.

Batman #43 Preview

This issue has some real potential to be interesting depending on where they go with Bruce.

(Source: ComicVine)

Catwoman #43 Preview

I've got no issue with Eiko training Steph, but I really hope the whole "I'm Catwoman too, lol" thing stops. Because no... no you aren't. It's just sort of pointless in every respect and hardly anything meaningful was done with it to begin with.

Looking Forward: August 12th, 2015

Well, after some heavy contemplation, I've decided to continue reading comics despite being driven to the edge by another appearance of Joker's Daughter.
  • Batman #43: We finally get to meet Mr. Bloom.
  • Catwoman #43: Catwoman finds the wrong Batman.
  • Gotham Academy #9: Werewolves! Because why now?
I'm pretty sure none of these issues will have the Joker's Daughter in there, so we should be good!

SPOILERS: Detective Comics #43

The "fan-favorite" star of that one issue with a 3D cover that total idiots paid upwards of $100 for just because some website said it was "rare," so everyone disregarded the reason of it's rarity (low orders because no one actually gave a shit + allocations) and jumped on board like it was the 1990s again, RETURNS!

Stack Rundown, 08/02/2015

Oh hey, look at that, it's August. Pretty late today, but I was traveling, so there's that. Only three Image books this week, but they are amongst my favorite, so there's that... too.
