Stack Highlights: 03/26/2017

Welcome to Stack Highlights, it's like Stack Rundown but with a fraction of the effort!

SPOILERS: Detective Comics #953

And the mother of year award goes to... literally anyone but Lady Shiva

SPOILERS: Mother Panic #5

Lots of style, just need a little more easily discernible substance for my tastes.

SPOILERS: Batman #19

Man this book has been so good for the last couple months, so good!

SPOILERS: All-Star Batman #8

I'm not sure exactly why most of this issue happens, but it sure is cool.

SPOILERS: Detective Comics #43

The "fan-favorite" star of that one issue with a 3D cover that total idiots paid upwards of $100 for just because some website said it was "rare," so everyone disregarded the reason of it's rarity (low orders because no one actually gave a shit + allocations) and jumped on board like it was the 1990s again, RETURNS!

The Spoilers:

Everyone finds out Nancy Yip is dirty, those dudes steal the Bat suit's core and gives it to Joker's Daughter for some reason, those dudes also are working an assassination contract for the Falcones at the Circus, the 8 page preview scene happens, Joker's Daughter somehow has a fat Gundam.

Whatever.

END.

The Opinion:

Whatever is the key word here. It just about sums up everything. Oh, another cop on the GCPD is dirty? Whatever. Joker's Daughter in general? Whatever. These mercs who went unnamed for two and half issues with no back story or reasoning are just generic mercs with facepaint? Whatever.

There's no depth to this story at all, it's just a bunch of generic elements thrown together, and made current by the fact that it goes "Look it's GorBat!"

And I mean, hell, let's put aside the fact that the Joker's Daughter is a total garbage character who no one actually gives a shit about, let's just ask the question why? She appears so randomly with no reasoning behind her, it turns out to actually be a disservice to an already shitty character because it amounts to nothing other than "She's got a big robot somehow!" Did Bob Harras wake up one day, remember that the character exists and go "Someone use the Joker's Daughter! The kids love her!" Smells like it.

Also, one art criticism, everyone's skin color, minus Darryl, whose is only slightly darker, is exactly the same. I don't usually notice these things, but I'm sitting here looking at Bullock, two latino characters, and a blonde chick, who all look exactly the same and even I'm going "Um...?"
