Ra's should wear a suit more often, that's my biggest take away from this issue.
Surprise, hero goes to place in their past and everyone wants them dead! Whoops.
Batman heads to the past, then gets Metal, meanwhile Nightwing fights everyone.

And so we move on to February.
- Batman Eternal #44: We're this close to the end, but with so much left to answer... Hopefully the book can deliver.
- Grayson #7: Through the magic of fill-in art, we get this issue back in it's regular time slot, so to speak.
- Detective Comics #39: Batman fights Anarky... I guess that's exciting?
Hey! This site is pretty alright, correct? If you want to support it and have any online comic stuff shopping to do, might I direct you towards the affiliate banners I got up on the site? You click em, and if you buy stuff in the same browsing session, I get a cut of the action. Just cashed a check recently and it felt pretttttty good, so let's keep the Gotham Spoilers love train going.

I don't know about you, but creepy tentacle monsters aren't exactly providing much of a reason for this booking having to do anything with Gotham, and my patience is starting to run a bit thin.

I mentioned over the weekend that I got a chance to read an early copy of this week's Gotham Academy #4, and promised some spoiler-free thoughts coming later in the week, and here I am, delivering the goods.
If you've read any of my thoughts on the series prior to this post, you know that one of the most prominent things I've had to say about this book is that it's a title that on paper, I should have no interest in, but the fact of the matter is, Gotham Academy has become one of my favorite books that DC publishes, and this week's issue continues to cement that idea.

Pretty slim week for me again. But don't worry, because like clockwork, a week where my pull-list comes back from the brink and slaps me in the face with more issues than I know what to do with is riiiiiight around the corner. Hooray?
Thursday, January 22, 2015
Hoooo-boy, it's another one of those big weeks.
- Batman #38: Joker!
- Batman Eternal #43: Probably no answers!
- Gotham Academy #4: Ghosts?
- Arkham Manor #4: Undercover Joker!
- Catwoman #38: Mob boss Catwoman!
- Gotham by Midnight #3: Gotham Cthulhu?
- Harley Quinn #14: Harley!
Spending a lot of money next week, perhaps buy shit through the stores I've got linked to so I don't go broke! Hooray!

So there've been some delays and books pushed back, so you know what that means? SEVEN BOOKS THE WEEK FOLLOWING NEXT. Fuck that.
- Batman and Robin #38: Damian! Nothing left to say.
- Batman Eternal #42: My predictions for this issue: "Hey look, I'm Bluebird! Answers for this year-long story? HAHAH, no."
Well, at least there's Damian!
As a reminder, if you want to do any online comic shopping, you should totally do it through the banners I've got on the site so you can support my comic blogging insanity.

And there you have it, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado and Rod Reis' final cover for Batman Eternal. I've always liked how they draw Batman with shadow draped across the cowl, only with a little glint of white coming from the eyes. Looks awesome every single time.

Despite my ever increasing faltering feelings towards this book recently, I've got to say, damn Joe Quinones' art is some of the best the book has had in recent months. At least there's that to look forward to.
With the release of Absolute Batman, Incorporated came new art from Chris Burnham, redrawing all the pages he had originally missed in the single issues (21 in all!). Along with redrawn Burnham pages, Yanick Paquette even redrew two pages he had missed in Batman, Inc. #3 (volume 1) as well as some edits that both fix and destroy various forms of continuity, at the same time! Morrison'd!
Comics Alliance has a look at the art process from roughs, original pages, Burnham line work, and Nathan Fairbrain's colors... man, I really need to scrap together some cash to pick up that behemoth of a book. Hopefully some regular trades with the fixed art come out down the line if I miss out on this volume (Absolutes tend to sell out, no?).

As much as I've enjoyed this run on the book so far, I can safely say I've enjoyed nothing of Babs and Dinah's animosity towards each other... Would have been one of the few instances I would have been okay with completely ignoring continuity. Not quite sure many people are mourning the loss of the latest incarnation of Birds of Prey which seeded this stuff.

Well, I've gone from one book, to two books, and now I've got three books to cover next week. Got to like 2015 easing me back into the madness.
- Batman Eternal #41: Easily already the top contender for most awkward cover of 2015.
- Grayson #6: When you leave a super human assassin in the desert to die, he's probably gonna want to fight yo u.
- Batgirl #38: There's that person out to get Babs, and I bet they do stuff this issue! Crazy bet, I know, but I like to take risks!
That's that for next week. In the meantime, if you've got trades, shirts, or whatever you want to buy online, might you take a look at the stores I've got links to via the affiliate banners. If you buy stuff from those sites (accessing them through my links) you end up supporting Gotham Spoilers, and that's just swell.

I was going to do a little pre-body blurb here about the issue, but instead, I just want to tell you how annoyed I am with the spelling of "Anarky" thanks to the latest version of OSX's love of autocorrect. So if an "Anarchy" slips in here, you know why.

Hey, it feels like forever since I've posted here. How's it going? Look, here's the preview for this week's Batman Eternal. The art kind of reminds me of Szymon Kudranski, with less shadows... Speaking of which, how's he not drawing any of these issues? He's one of those artists who'd I expect to see given his number of random Batman book appearances.

Well, it's a new year, and if memory serves me correctly, I usually do some sort of retrospective on the year we just had as well as giving my predictions (as well as hopes) for the Gotham books in the coming year. Given how things are going recently, it's probably safe to say that my predictions would be way wrong in the wake of stuff like Gotham Academy and Gotham by Midnight, but hey, might as well, right?
So here we go. I'll be going down the list of each and every book (with the exception of Arkham Manor) giving my thoughts on it currently, and where I'd like to see it go next year.
Thursday, January 1, 2015
And we're back to normal-ish, next week. Last three months of Batman Eternal, so hopefully that picks up, and get prepared for all other storyline starting to wrap up in time for the DC move.
- Batman Eternal #40: Hey look, it's the Riddler... he knows what's going on... Please tell us, I can't take anymore beating around the bush.
- Detective Comics #38: Anarky is looking to start some anarchy. Surprise?
And that would be that for the first week of 2015. Going into Gotham Spoilers year five... Good god.
Support this insanity by doing any comic stuff online shopping through the stores I've got banners for. It's the right thing to do, Batman says so.
