It's saying something when a LoSH character hanging out in Batman is hardly the most WTF moment of an issue.

Endgame Watch! One Character Confirmed

We know pretty much absolutely nothing about what "Endgame" is going to be once Batman #35 rolls around in October, other than the fact that it's going to be set after Batman Eternal. But late last night, Eternal writers Scott Snyder and Tim Seeley were talking on Twitter and confirmed one thing:

Julia Pennyworth is most likely going to be sticking around. I only say "most likely" because who knows, she could show up for a page in #35 and never appear again, but chances are that's not going to happen. It seems almost obvious at this point that the woman we saw in the Batcave in Batman #28 was Julia, given it's her father's old position so there's that, uh, "poetic" element to it? But just because Julia is there during the later part of Eternal doesn't mean that it's necessarily a permanent position for her. Though, with the teasers of Alfred getting locked away after some Scarecrow happenings, all bets are off. Maybe Scott Snyder will finally get his man and kill Alfred this time!

Or not. Let's not do that. If there's one character who should never really die, it's Alfred.

  1. Plus, I'm pretty sure they killed him off once in the Silver Age and replaced him with Aunt Harriet only to be brought back because of the Adam West show.

  2. Agreed. While Alfred has died before, he's one of the most lovable Batman characters and he should stick around as long as Batman comics are to be made. It was heart-wrenching when he died in The Dark Knight Returns, and that was even set on a different earth (31).
