Oh look, all the original Nightwing #30 art

The Nightwing #30 we got last week was not the original Nightwing #30 we were originally going to get. I was generally pretty curious to see what Nightwing #30 was originally going to be, but thought we'd never get to know... That is until original artist Meghan Hetrick posted all the pages she had illustrated up for sale.

From what you can gather by looking at the pages, Bruce pulls a Leslie Thompkins "War Games" retcon, and buries a stiff, passing it off as Dick Grayson. Seems like this was going to be one of those general super hero funeral issues, but it also would have answered a couple of things that readers have wanted answered for awhile, like Dick's past with both Roy Harper and Starfire. We also would have seen some last glimpses of Dick's life in Chicago along with Sonia Zucco as well.

Hard to gather what the original plan for Dick would have been post-Nightwing #30. All we get is him leaving Gotham, no hints of Spyral or anything, really. Guess we'll never know that aspect of the story.

  1. I don't know why they didn't put this out as Nightwing #30 and then put out the other one as Grayson #0. Without the words, it looks like this comic would have worked well together with the Nightwing #30 that we got.
