Another week, another batch of comics to loosely talk about.

SPOILERS: Batman #9

It's saying something when a LoSH character hanging out in Batman is hardly the most WTF moment of an issue.

SPOILERS: Nightwing #7

The circus is a strange place, evident by the endless Nightwing stories that come from it.

Man, I sure wish Damian showed up in Batman books too... you know, where it'd make total and complete sense?

Nightwing Annual #1 Announced

Coming October 30th, Nightwing will be getting an annual volume along with Aquaman, and the second issues of Action Comics, Teen Titans, Green Lantern and Swamp Thing.

Cant say I'm thrilled about the solicitation description, but we'll have to see, those aren't always completely representative of what actually happens.

On sale OCTOBER 30 • 48 pg, FC, $4.99 US • RATED T
Robin and Batgirl grew up fighting side by side…but with Dick Grayson about to embark on a new crimefighting quest and Barbara Gordon no longer fighting under the Bat, is there anything left between them? Following the “Batgirl: Wanted” epic, this is the story of a twosome with nothing left to lose, fighting for the only thing they can: each other!

  1. I'm excited enough for establishing Nightwing and Batgirl's relationship in the New 52. We've only gotten inklings of it, and it'd be nice to get some more context.

And regardless of what happens, it's gonna sell purely because people have been clamoring for some Dick/Babs action, and Nightwing will be coming out of the spotlight of Forever Evil, so he'll be a hot property.

  2. You haven't really covered it here much yet, but apparently Dick will be the central hero character of Forever Evil, the other central characters being Catwoman and Lex Luthor. Also, apparently Dick will not die, but the Crime Syndicate of America will do something to him that is apparently worse than death (I doubt it will be anything that serious considering this annual).

Anyways, this is something that I've been waiting for, for a while now. Why did it take this long for Nightwing to get an annual? And I'm not as thrilled to see this being about Dick/Babs either, considering Barbara in the New52 can be a real jerk, and it doesn't seem like she has the real relationship with Dick that they had Pre-52. Either way, Kyle Higgins is writing, so it has to be at least a little above average, and I'm not sure how good Jason Masters is as an artist, but hopefully he does a good job. I can't wait to see Nightwing's larger upcoming role, and also what happens in his own book, hopefully Will Conrad does a good job! Also, thanks for doing this with your blog, not sure how many people thank you for giving us up to date news, but it is good for you to hear it once in a while at the very least.

  3. I'm excited for this because I wasn't expecting it

  4. I'm curious, I really do like Dick and Barbara's relationship, but I wonder if the reason why writers have been pushing them for years now is because it has become popular among fans, or that it became most writers like to write about it?

  5. I really like the Nightwing series. I'm glad that he's getting an annual issue of his own.
But, this sounds more like a Nightwing AND Batgirl issue to me. Like Nightwing shouldn't have to share the spotlight in his own annual.
I wanted to see these two together for a while, but in recent months, I'm not really impressed with the new 52 Batgirl and I'm missing Oracle once again.
I like the couple, but considering who they have each grown to be in the new 52, I don't think they'll make a good couple.
In the new 52, they're better as best friends I think.
