Batman Group June 2013 Solicitations

Ah, solicit time, this month with way more young Batman with "Zero Year."

Points of interest this month:
  • Rafael Albuquerque is back on Batman back-ups.
  • Francesco Francavilla will be filling in on Batwoman, which is pretty great.
  • Scot Eaton will be filling in on Detective Comics
  • Miguel Sepulveda seems to be on Talon for good, so I guess March is gone (SUCKS!) but that cover is nice.
  • Eduardo Pansica on Batwing.
  • Fernando Pasarin can probably be considered the new Batgirl artist at this point.
  • Mico Suayan is probably not drawing Red Hood anymore.
And that's all the creative changes to note. Hit the jump for the full solicit line up.

  1. Some of these hint at being fold-out covers.

    1. Not really. DC's site lists Batman Inc and Batman and Batgirl's covers not being final, and The Dark Knight's cover is actually interior art.

    2. Gotcha. Just some two page spreads then from the interior art.

  2. Is #12 still Grant's last on Batman Inc.? If it is, I'm surprised the solicits don't mention that - and also aghast because that means the series isn't being cancelled with him leaving; if it's not, how long will he stay on board?

    1. I think just recently I saw Chris Burnham straight up tell someone on twitter he and Grants last issue was 12. I think the fact that Grant is also drawing the variant is an indication as well.

  3. Dang, Babs' Bat-emblem is wrecked on both her cover and the Batman & Batgirl cover.

    Curious.

  4. - Hell, anything is better than Batman getting a new robin.

    - Better yet, we get a new 52 origin story. This could definitely be worse, but i'm not complaining.

    - Additionally, Jason seems to be fine with some new type of sword in tact. I am looking forward to this.

  5. Wow, Batgirl is on the cover of 4 different comics in June.
I like the cover to Batman and Batgirl, it just stands out to me.
At first I was excited about the new costume and artwork for Nightwing, but they need to return him to the blue costume because he's looking like a teen titan there and he's more than that(hey, why not Power Girl is going back to her former costume. Also, Batwing's new costume is badass and so is that cover. But they covered up all his skin and I'm wondering if there's something more to that.
Finally, Birds of Prey. Why isn't Starling on any of the recent covers? Its all about Black Canary and Batgirl now and sometimes Strix. Condor isn't on any of these covers and I will say that Talon would make a better fit for the team than Condor or Strix. Starling is one of the most memorable parts of the rebooted Birds of Prey series and now its like they're trying to get Batgirl to replace her in the spotlight, and Batgirl didn't even want to be on the team in the first place. At this point, is there any hope of Poison Ivy returning? What the heck happened to this series?

  6. I hope this is super young, pre-Year One Bruce Wayne as the title suggests and not a new origin for Batman. There's no need to mess with perfection for one. For two... if this is the big nine or eleven part story they were talking about doing, I'd really rather it weren't them covering ground we've already seen.

As for Inc, I'm glad it's not ending with Grant. I always hate it when people are like "that book was made for him it should end with him". The industry has never worked that way and it shouldn't. Besides, I like the idea of a worldwide coalition of Batmen quite a bit. Of course, the question is... who is suitable enough to take over?

  7. Does anyone notice that Batgirl's symbol is kind of messed up on both the Batman and Batgirl cover, and the regular Batgirl cover? Symbolic, or just something to make sure continuity is lined up correctly? Or both?

  8. Speaking of covers, what's going on over in Detective Comics? Looks like Harper Row (by way, it seems, of Catwoman's costume) there with Batman?
