SPOILERS: Legends of the Dark Knight #18

...I'm really not in the mood to write this at the moment, so, long story short: Penguin wants to get rid of competition, so he hires creepy guy whose M.O. is driving around a creepy van that contains what his victims fear the most. Throws them in, never see them again. Penguin thinks the issue is over, but the guy starts coming after him, so he reluctantly gets Batman to help. The whole van thing doesn't work, because Batman has already faced what he fears the most, and it is what made him. This and that happens, and the dude ends up locked in Arkham.

This was an alright short story, with some pretty nice art from Juan Jose Ryp. The thing that I'm getting tired of with this series, and this issue illustrates it, is the constant uninteresting use of Joker need for all these writers to do a story that tries to go all deep and be all "this is what makes Batman tick" sort of trope. I get it, and I get why, it's just that these are essentially ten page stories that don't allow a story to do that concept any justice. We know who Batman is, that's why we read this quick fix comic, so let's just have fun and go wild.

RATING: 3/5
