John Layman Talks Detective Comics

Recently announced new Detective Comics writer John Layman spoke with CBR about his run on the title, starting in October. One of the key things I noticed in the interview was this quote:
"I am trying to do this like "Chew" in that every issue will be a case or its own self-contained adventure. I am not a huge fan of decompressed storytelling where you spend three or four bucks and you get one scene of one guy doing one thing. I am going to try and satisfy everyone, every issue, while leading to a bigger story."
Sign me up. Shorter, self contained stories will really help this book stand out from Batman and The Dark Knight, which will be doing their own longer arcs. Also, that structure reminds me of the Paul Dini Detective issues, which isn't a bad thing, let's just say that.
